The Mighty Howard County Fair has been postponed until 2021, WIZM reported.

The fair will not be held for the 2020 season.

“To say we’re disappointed is an understatement,” Tom Barnes, the executive secretary of the Howard County Fair Board told the news agency. “But the health and safety of our community is our top priority. Taking into consideration all of the factors the board had to look at in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, this is the right decision.”

Barnes told the news agency they did not make the decision lightly and that they considered the impact the fair has on both the community and the county, but ultimately, safety is most important.

“The board does understand this decision could have a negative economic impact on our fair vendors and local businesses who depend on the fair for their livelihood,” Barnes said to the news agency. “However, the safety of our community is our first and foremost concern.”
