Rep. Jane Bloomingdale (R-District 51) says the General Assembly adjourned for the year after an "unprecedented session" with a conservative budget and legislation that benefits children and adults.
Bloomingdale wrote in a Facebook post that that the General Assembly was able to check off several items this session.
She said the General Assembly "enacted a cautious and conservative budget that funds our priorities in a responsible way, increased investment in K-12 education to an all-time high of almost $3.4 billion (an increase of almost $1 billion over the last 10 years)."
She also noted that legislators pushed through a policy to help parents afford child care, as well as a bill that brought high-speed internet to rural areas in the state.
The Assembly also pushed through legislation to help local entities offer emergency medical services to citizens.
“I am proud of our work, and while not all of these issues reached the finish line, I am hopeful we can work together to find consensus before we return next session," she wrote. This has been a truly unprecedented session and I am incredibly honored to serve as your voice in the Statehouse. Thank you for the ability to represent you."
