Cresco City Council has unanimously decided to close city hall for a second time due to a surge in COVID-19 cases in Howard County, according to Cresco Times.
City Clerk Michelle Girolamo said there were no issues with the previous closures and didn’t foresee any with this one. The decision was made at a virtual meeting on July 6.
Cresco Public Library has also closed its doors for a minimum of two weeks after some of its employees came into contact with the coronavirus. Previously, it was closed shortly after COVID-19 was declared a pandemic. While it reopened on May 18, it was closed again on July 6 and reopened for curbside pickup only on July 20.
As for other matters of the city, Councilman Steve McCarville suggested the city separate the water, sewer and street employees. It previously took this route in April and May, so that if one department is affected, the others can help cover.
