City of Decorah recently issued the following announcement.
History Book Group: "The Rise of American Democracy: Jefferson to Lincoln" on August 19

Decorah Public Library staff are hosting four book discussions in August. The groups are open to the public and newcomers are encouraged to attend. Anyone interested should call the library at 382-3717 to learn more or to reserve a book. Zoom links for groups using that format are available on the Library’s website or you can email ktorresdal@decorah.lib.ia.us to be added to any of the four groups’ email distribution lists. Funds for multiple copy sets were generously provided by Friends of Decorah Public Library.
The History Book Group will meet at 3:00 p.m. Thurs. August 19 on the 2nd floor of the library to discuss Sean Wilentz’s “The Rise of American Democracy: Jefferson to Lincoln.” Sean Wilentz brings to life the era after the American Revolution, when the idea of democracy remained contentious, and Jeffersonians and Federalists clashed over the role of ordinary citizens in government of, by, and for the people. The triumph of Andrew Jackson soon defined this role
