City of Oelwein recently issued the following announcement on September 10.
The City of Oelwein is hiring a Building Inspector to work in the Community Development Department. The ideal candidate will be someone with a great attitude that wants to be part of positive change in Oelwein.
This position would work on the following in the Community Development Department:
• Rental Inspection
• Building Permits
• Building Inspections
• Nuisance Abatement
• Building Code Enforcement
• Flood Zone Management
• Planning and Zoning
• Board of Appeals
• Board of Adjustment
While the city is interested in a certified Building Inspector, other candidates may apply. Contractors and tradesmen who are excited to work with a great team and have a positive work history are encouraged to apply. Good candidates will have a background in building and trades, are able to obtain licenses and certification in the state of Iowa and are comfortable with technology.
The City will train the ideal candidate to be successful and will allow for materials and study time for all certifications. The candidate will enjoy working in a small town and working with the public daily.
Pay is dependent of qualifications with a range of $45,000-$47,000. Excellent health benefits and Iowa Public Employees Retirement System (IPERS).
