Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital recently issued the following announcement.

Winneshiek Medical Center and Mayo Clinic Health System leaders are pleased to announce that Benjamin Stevens has accepted the position of chief financial officer of Winneshiek Medical Center. He succeeds Lynn Luloff who retired in November after thirteen years serving in the CFO role.

Ben is the current chief financial officer and interim chief executive officer for Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, Iowa. He has served in the CFO role since 2014, and during his time there, led a $24 million facility expansion project and the implementation of their Epic electronic health record solution.  Prior to Buchanan County Health Center, Ben was the business manager of surgical services for Allen Memorial Hospital and the chief financial officer for District Admin, Inc.

Steve Slessor, chief administrative officer, Winneshiek Medical Center, says, “It is exciting to welcome Ben to our senior leadership team at Winneshiek Medical Center.  I have had the privilege of working with Ben in two prior organizations.  He is an excellent financial leader, has a large amount of experience in facility projects and is very community oriented.  Ben will be instrumental to our success and his entire family will be a huge asset to this region.”

Ben received his Masters of Business Administration from University of Northern Iowa in 2017 in Cedar Falls and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Coe College in Cedar Rapids in 2004.  He and his wife, Bethany, have four children ages 8-13.  In his personal time, he enjoys football, having played in college and coached for the past eight years.  He also enjoys woodworking, outdoor activities, and he looks forward to being part of Prairie Lakes Church in Decorah as it anticipates opening this winter.

Ben says, “My family and I are looking ahead with anticipation at relocating and joining the community.  I know the hard work and teamwork needed to provide excellent community-based care is imperative not only for WMC, but also the entire rural county.  I am up for the challenges ahead, and excited to partner with the members of WMC to continue providing superior care both for today and in years to come.”

Ben’s role at Winneshiek Medical Center will begin on February 28, 2022 and the Stevens family intends to relocate to the area in the coming months.
