Of the 638 people living in Elgin in 2020, 46.1 percent (294) were women and 53.9 percent (344) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by the NE Iowa News.

Males 18 and over outnumbered females in the same age group by 16. In the 65 and over age range, there were 70 females and 88 males.
