Martin Luther King Jr. day is Monday, January 16, 2023. To help us reflect on this holiday, Ed Carl Barnes will be our keynote speaker in the Viking Theatre at Noon.
Ed Carl Barnes, president and principal consultant for the Genesis Project, is an innovative person known for utilizing and developing programs and processes which increase organizational effectiveness and individual performance.
Ed is a licensed social worker, state certified Substance Abuse Assessment Counselor, a certified HIV/AIDS educator; a contracted trainer for the State of Iowa, and a contracted trainer for the National Resource Center for Family Centered Practice. Ed has lectured widely throughout the state and the country in a variety of forums focusing on issues pivotal to the promotion of health, wellness and spiritual well-being of individuals, families, corporate culture and cultural diversity.
His career includes work with Pre-K-post-graduate education, not- for- profit organizations, corporations, and universities. Ed has also been an 20 year adjunct professor at the University of Iowa, School of Social Work.
Active in many civic organizations, Ed has served as board member of the Iowa Civil Rights Advisory Rights Committee, board member of Heartland Area Education Association, member of the Governor's Advisory Committee on Substance Abuse, and as a member of the Iowa Practice Improvement Collaborative.
